Therapy for Adults

My core training as a therapist is as a Play Therapist; this is a training that prepares you to work as a therapist specifically with children, using the creative arts and play. I also work with adults using creativity, talking and IFS (Internal Family Systems).

Using creativity in therapy can be particularly helpful; with words we can be limited to what we can connect to inside ourselves and limited in what we can express. The creative arts are also well known for ‘bi-passing’ the thinking, more cognitive parts of us and tapping into the more relational and emotional parts of our experiences. This can help us get to know parts of ourselves and our experiences that might have otherwise remained hidden from our awareness but are impacting our well-being.

I completed the IFS Level One training in 2020 (over 100 hours of training) and have been using this in my work with children, teens and parents since this time.

Please be aware that if you are experiencing a clinical mental illness (including schizophrenia, psychosis, bi-polar disorder, major depressive disorder or a personality disorder) it will not be appropriate for me to work with you at this time.

Please feel free to get in touch if you would like to discuss things further.
